Ingredients:

  • Salt - 0.5 (tsp)
  • Olive oil - 1 (tbsp)
  • Garlic - 7 (g)
  • Red chili flakes - 0.25 (tsp)
  • Grated parmesan cheese - 4 (tbsp)
  • Penne - 2 (oz)
  • White onion - 0.5 (cup)
  • Ground beef - 4 (oz)
  • Marinara sauce - 1 (cup)
  • Ricotta cheese - 0.3 (cup)
  • Shredded mozzarella - 6 (tbsp)

Instructions:

Baked Ziti is a classic comfort food made with ground beef, tomato sauce, and plenty of cheese. This is a simple single-serving recipe, perfect for cooking for yourself, and it might even be enough for two if served with a side.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Heat oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onion, garlic, ground beef, 1/4 tsp salt, and red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned and no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
  4. Add marinara sauce and bring to a boil.
  5. Remove from heat, add the cooked pasta, and set the skillet aside.
  6. In a small bowl, mix ricotta, 2 tbsp mozzarella, 2 tbsp Parmesan, and the remaining 1/4 tsp salt.
  7. Fold it into the pasta and meat mixture.
  8. Spread 2 tbsp marinara sauce in a lightly greased baking dish.
  9. Layer half of the pasta and meat mixture on top, then sprinkle with 2 tbsp mozzarella.
  10. Add the remaining pasta and meat mixture, and top with 2 tbsp mozzarella and 2 tbsp Parmesan.
  11. Cover and bake on the middle rack of the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
